Zion’s
worship life is rooted in the scriptures, in the good news of the
love of God made known to us in Jesus Christ, and in the rich
heritage of the liturgical tradition of the Lutheran Church.
Sunday
worship services from
September through May are at 8:00 and 10:30 AM.
Several settings from the new ELCA worship resource Evangelical
Lutheran Worship are used according to the season of the church
year. Worship from June
through Labor Day is at 9:00 AM.
Holy Communion is celebrated at all Sunday services.
Congregational
singing is enhanced at Zion by the wonderful acoustics of the
worship center and by the 30-rank, 1916-pipe Reuter pipe organ.
Emily Cole and Sally Potter are our regular organists.
Mid-week
Lenten services are at 5:30 PM on Wednesday evenings during
Lent. Each 45 minute
service is followed by a Lenten fellowship meal served in the
fellowship hall. Lent
is a special time for the people of Zion and a number of people who
do not regularly identify with Zion claim this congregation as their
“midweek Lenten service church home.”
Another
special time at Zion is the annual Advent
Carol Service led by our choirs.
This service scheduled for the third or fourth Sunday in
Advent features beautiful music interspersed with timely mediations
written and delivered by our pastor.
Christmas
Eve Candlelight Services with Holy Communion at 7:30 and 10:30
PM crown the beautiful Advent and Christmas seasons.
The beautifully decorated sanctuary adds to the special
character of this most holy night. |
